Despite all of the options at quarterback for the Eagles, there are still a lot of question marks as to who will be under center next season. The most likely candidate will be McNabb, and frankly, it will be shocking if it’s not him.
Back-up and heir apparent Kevin Kolb has one more year left on his contract, and according to the Inquirer, there have been no talks of an extension, despite the rumors last week to the contrary. McNabb and Vick also have a year left on their contracts – Reid has gone on the record saying that #5 would be back.
Today the Eagles took their two game winning streak to Atlanta to face a banged-up Falcons team that was undefeated at home, coming away with a 34-7 thrashing behind standout performances from Michael Vick, Donovan McNabb, Leonard Weaver, and Sheldon Brown. Pepper in some brilliant hits from Asante Samuel and diverse play-calling, and you have an amazing performance from a team that now sits in a first place tie with the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East.
This wasn’t the win I was looking for from the Eagles. I wanted them to blaze into Chicago with everything clicking and take a convincing game from a conference opponent. Although the Birds won 24-20, it was an ugly affair with three turnovers and some dumb penalties.
